Lizzie Ranson

Lizzie is the Senior Manager of the Leverhulme Centre for Algorithmic Life and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Centre and for delivering the Centre’s research strategy and objectives. Lizzie is an experienced research manager, having previously managed Durham University’s Impact Acceleration Account portfolio with responsibility for over £5 million of research impact funding. She also worked on Durham’s REF2021 submission and undertook a secondment to Research England as panel secretariat, advising the national REF2021 panels during the REF assessment phase. Lizzie is particularly knowledgeable and passionate about issues of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and is a member of the ARMA EDI Advisory Board. Lizzie is delighted to have been appointed to lead the professional management of the Centre for Algorithmic Life and hopes to build a supportive, collegiate and innovative research culture through strong, transparent and equitable governance. Lizzie’s academic background is in Arts & Humanities having studied for a Music degree at Durham University and an MA in Community Music at York and she is delighted to join a research centre that particularly champions the contribution of Arts & Humanities and Social Science research. Lizzie continues to engage with her musical roots in her spare time and is a proud founding member of the Durham University Staff Chamber Choir.
